Ketamine Assisted Therapies

What is Ketamine?

  • Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic.
  • First synthesized in 1962 by Calvin L Stevens at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.
  • Ketamine has the anti-depressive properties and neurological stimulation researchers discovered 38 years later in 2000.

How does Ketamine work?

  • Ketamine has been shown to promote neuroplasticity by modulating the glutamatergic system,
  • This leads to the formation of new synaptic connections and receptor development in the central nervous system.
  • As an NMDA receptor antagonist and AMPA receptor agonist, ketamine exerts its effects by altering glutamate transmission.
  • Ketamine stimulates nerve growth within the brain.
  • Nerve growth increases neuroplasticity and connections.
  • Treatment rooms allow patients to heal in a tranquil and relaxing environment.
  • Ketamine acts as the catalyst to heal the brain of the patients to process in a dissociative conscious state.
